Get Started as a Running Start Student!
Step 1: Submit an LCC Admissions Application
This is the first application of our two step Running Start application process. You will apply to LCC first, and then apply to the Running Start program after you are accepted.
- Make sure to select "Running Start" under "I will be enrolling as..."
- Select "Academic" for your Program type
After submitting your admissions application, you should receive a followup email (to the address used in your application) containing next steps within a few days. Make sure to save the email as it will contain your LCC Student ID number and additional important information about what to do next. If you don't hear back for 10 business days, please check your spam folder, and if you can not locate your acceptance email please contact admissions.
Step 2: Submit an LCC Running Start Intake Form
Step 3: Advising, Registration & Orientation
Once Running Start verifies we have your LCC Admissions Application from Step #1 and your Running Start Intake Form from Step #2, you will recieve an email from our Running Start Director containing your Running Start Acceptance, English placement and more information regarding advising, orientation, and registration. We will also request your high school transcripts from your high school or homeschool.
If you do not receive information from the Running Start office withing 2 weeks of applying please contact us to check the status of your application.
Meet with Advisor & Register for Classes
Meet with a Running Start Advisor to discuss, plan and register for your courses (you will register again every quarter).
Attend a Mandatory New Student Orientation
All new students are required to attend one Running Start Orientation. You do not have to sign up for the orientation. Please check your LCC email for details.
All student mandatory orientation sessions will be held on campus or via Zoom as indicated below. These sessions are about 1.5 hours long and are for students only. Parents will have an optional session to attend as well.
Please contact the Running Start office with any questions or concerns.
Running Start Tuition and Financial Responsibilities
Running Start students and their families do not pay tuition. They are responsible for mandatory fees, books and transportation. Students receive both high school and college credit for these classes, which accelerates their progress through the education system.
Information for Undocumented Students/DREAMers
Undocumented students in Washington state have the right to attend colleges and universities. Many qualify for state-funded financial aid because of the Washington Dream Act, also called The Real Hope Act which was signed into law in 2014.
