To help bolster retention rates, publish your online courses by the start of the first day of the quarter. If your online course is not published by 10 AM on the first day of classes, eLearning will publish it with an ‘Under Construction’ page that directs students to your contact information. This will not affect content you've already built in the course, and all navigation items will be hidden from students. This policy was approved by Instructional Council and applies only to fully online courses.
Regular and substantive interaction is necessary in all fully online courses. When a student takes an incomplete, they cannot be added to a current version of the course as this is a violation of FERPA.
Instead, eLearning will modify the individual student's access dates so they can continue to work on their course without all other students being granted access.

eLearning maintains fairly strict guidelines for what kinds of Global Announcements we post in Canvas. Our intention is to prevent students from being spammed to the point that they no longer pay attention to Global Announcements. The basic guidelines are:
- Global Announcements must not be event advertisements.
- Global Announcements must benefit all students, not just specific populations.
- Global Announcements must contribute to student success, retention, and completion of Canvas courses or announce important information such as campus closures, emergencies, or downtime in technology (like Canvas, MyMathLab, Gmail, or Google Apps).
Tired of clutter in Canvas? If you have old courses you don't want to see anymore, contact us at eLearning@lowercolumbia.edu! Archived courses are not deleted, and we can reactivate you as a user in those courses at any time.
Just like in the face-to-face classroom, it's best practice to minimize distractions in your online course spaces so your students' cognitive load can be focused on the actual course content. One simple way to do this in online courses is to hide unused course navigation links. For example, if you know you'll never have students use Collaborations or Panopto Recordings, hiding those links prevents confusion and makes it easier for them to find what they're looking for.

The Course Review process happens for a variety of reasons, you've created a new course
that's never been taught before, you've converted a course from one modality to another
(ex: in-person to fully online), or you'd just like some feedback on a course you
teach. When you're ready to have your course reviewed, fill out the Course Review
Request Form to start the process! Once the form is complete, our Instructional Designer
will reach out to walk you through the process.

Honorlock is the most user-friendly option for online test proctoring through Canvas at LCC! Students never have to leave Canvas or schedule an appointment, either! Check out Online Test Proctoring or contact eLearning for more information.

Unsubscribing from Honorlock Marketing Emails
When Honorlock is added and authorized by an instructor, their name is added to the
database Honorlock uses to send communication blasts. You can easily unsubscribe from
these marketing emails by scrolling to the bottom of an email and clicking unsubscribe.
