Admission to the Nursing Program is competitive. Applicants must receive passing scores on the Nursing Admission Exams in order to be eligible for consideration.
We offer remote and in-person testing for theATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), and in-person and distance-proctored exams for theKaplan Fundamentals D NGN exam.Testing is by appointment only and Nursing applicants with processed applications are prioritized.

You will receive scheduling information 5-7 business days after your application's been processed. Please check the email that you included on your application. If you haven't received an email, please make sure to check your spam folder.
In-Person:
TEAS & Kaplan testing will be offered in-person this year. We will provide numerous test dates between May and July. All exams will be proctored in our Testing Center in Main 128.
Remote:
ONLY the TEAS will be offered remotely. Testers who opt for the remote testing option are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary equipment. Required are:
- Reliable internet access
- Computer/Laptop
- Webcam
- Microphone
- Quiet testing space
At another Testing Center
Candidates who can not test at Lower Columbia College can test at another professional testing center. This can be a college or university’s testing center or a professional testing center in your area.
Once your Nursing Application has been processed, the Testing Center will reach out with information on how to schedule your exam within 1-2 weeks.
Admission Exams
Campus-Based AN-DTA Registered Nurse
LPN Entry (LPN2RN) to Registered Nurse Program

Fundamentals D NGN Exam
- This exam is 70 questions, and 102 minutes designed to evaluate knowledge of students transitioning from a Practical Nurse program to a program leading to Registered Nurse licensure. To prepare for this exam, it is recommended to review any NCLEX-PN preparation guide.
- TEAS = $100
- TEAS & Kaplan = $120
- Kaplan Only = $35
The TEAS exam is 209 minutes in total, split between four sections. Breaks are allowed in between sections. The Kaplan exam is 102 minutes, with no breaks.

NEW in 2023. There is no restriction on the number of TEAS attempts for applicants, however, testers must wait 14 days before retesting. Kaplan testers can also retest after a 14 day waiting period, but have a maximum of one retest during this cohort cycle.
If you tested through the Lower Columbia College Testing & Proctoring Center, the Nursing Program will automatically receive your results.
