Wertheimer Society
The Wertheimer Society was established to recognize and honor individuals who have generously provided or plan to provide, gifts to the Lower Columbia College Foundation through bequests, trusts, and other life income gifts.
If you have named Lower Columbia College Foundation in your will or have otherwise included the institution in your estate plans, you are already a member. If you have not notified us of your bequest, please contact us regarding your decision and sign a Declaration of Intent. The Declaration of Intent is non-binding and creates no legal obligation to you or your estate.
Are you turning 70-1/2? Consider a gift from your IRA!
A gift to the Lower Columbia College Foundation directly from your IRA is a tax-savvy, tax-wise, and tax-smart way to support excellence in education and is excludable from your gross income. It's a tax free gift!
Choose a Planned Giving Method
Reflect upon your needs and your commitment to Lower Columbia College. By joining the Wertheimer Society, you are making a powerful pledge to the college. You may choose any of the following opportunities to secure Society membership:
- Make a bequest of through a will or trust. Bequests can be made in the form of cash, property, collections, art, jewelry, securities and more.
- Name the Lower Columbia College Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy, a pension plan, or a bank account.
- Name the Lower Columbia College Foundation as a beneficiary of a charitable lead trust.
- Make a life income gift, securing a guaranteed life income for yourself, and a designated beneficiary if desired by establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity, or creating a Charitable Remainder Trust.
- Make a gift of retirement plan assets, including an IRA charitable rollover after your 70 1/2 birthday.
Creating an Endowment
Consider your bequest gift as a reflection of your values, as a gift to memorialize or honor a beloved family member, or as a way to continue your annual fund gift in perpetuity. An endowment is a self-perpetuating gift, the principal can be sustained, and the income derived from it may be used for many significant purposes.
Including us in your Will
Bequests to the LCC Foundation are as easy to make as including the following verbiage in your will, or in a codicil to your will:
I do hereby give to Lower Columbia College Foundation in Longview, Washington, a Washington state non-profit organization [501(c)(3)], (the sum of $_____); or (all my right, title, and interest into the following described property: _____ ); or ( _____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate), such bequest to be used in the manner as determined appropriate by Lower Columbia College Foundation as it, in its sole discretion, shall determine.
The preceding clause is a suggested example only. Always consult your attorney for proper legal advice. If you wish to make a bequest that is restricted to a specific purpose, please contact our office for examples of appropriate wording.
