Wertheimer Society

The Wertheimer Society was established to recognize and honor individuals who have generously provided, or plan to provide, gifts to the Lower Columbia College Foundation through bequests, trusts, and other life income gifts.

If you have named Lower Columbia College Foundation in your will or have otherwise included the institution in your estate plans, you are already a member. If you have not notified us of your bequest, please contact us regarding your decision and sign a Declaration of Intent. The Declaration of Intent is non-binding and creates no legal obligation to you or your estate.

Choose a Planned Giving Method

Reflect upon your needs and your commitment to Lower Columbia College. By joining the Wertheimer Society, you are making a powerful pledge to the college. You may choose any of the following opportunities to secure Society membership:

  • Make a bequest through a will or trust.
  • Name the Lower Columbia College Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy, a pension plan, or a bank account.
  • Name the Lower Columbia College Foundation as a beneficiary of a charitable lead trust.
  • Make a life income gift, securing a guaranteed life income for yourself, and a designated beneficiary if desired by establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity, or creating a Charitable Remainder Trust.

Additional Giving Options

There are various opportunities and possibilities when considering planned giving to the Lower Columbia College Foundation, including:

  • A bequest of cash.
  • A gift of property, such as real estate, collections, art, jewelry, etc.
  • A gift of securities.
  • A share of the residue of your estates.
  • The remainder of a trust after the lifetime of a family member.
  • Gifts of retirement plan assets.

Creating an Endowment

Consider your bequest gift as a reflection of your values, as a gift to memorialize or honor a beloved family member, or as a way to continue your annual fund gift in perpetuity. An endowment is a self-perpetuating gift, the principal can be sustained, and the income derived from it may be used for many significant purposes.

Including us in your Will

Bequests to the LCC Foundation are as easy! Just include specific specific verbiage in your will, or in a codicil to your will. If you would like examples of verbiage please contact our office or consult your attorney for legal advice. Bequests can be unrestricted or restricted to a specific purpose. Please contact our office for examples of appropriate wording to designate bequests to a specific purpose.
