The Minthorn Collection of Chinese Art: A Lifetime of Collecting
In the late 1950s Dr. Herbert H. and Mrs Anne B. Minthorn became interested in Chinese art and artifacts and slowly began to acquire pieces to display in their Longview home.
They found porcelains and other artworks in jade and silk in a variety of places during their travels in the US and abroad. During the years Dr. Minthorn worked as a physician in Longview, they continued to add to the collection.
Reading, research and discerning eyes helped expand their collection. Through the Minthorn's generous donation to the Foundation, they have made it possible for others to enjoy the pieces in their collection and the stories those pieces tell.
Art tells us about culture and communicates ideas and visions
This gift honors the Minthorns' lives of service to the community and the diversity of the people who have contributed to its development and sustenance.
This collection is part of Lower Columbia College's International Study Program, its multicultural curriculum, and its goal to fully participate in the global community.
