Summary: Your navigation file provides user-friendly side navigation access to additional pages inside your section. It displays on the left of your web page (on desktops), and in a sub menu (on mobile devices) - when turned on.

Accessing your Navigation File

Navigate to your section. Click the '_assets' folder to open, then click the 'nav.inc' file.

Editing your Navigation File (nav.inc)

Navigation files typically list items in an alpha ordered bullet list. Adding or modifying these links is done the same way as body content. See Links to Websites and Documents as explained under 'Links to Web Pages'.

Navigation Files featuring Nested Drop Downs

Yuu may notice some areas of the website feature navigation files that contain nested drop downs. Section folder structure is required to support this function, as well as special nav file coding. Contact your Web Coordinator if you want this.

Select your Navigation file

  • Check out the page on which you wish to manage your navigation file, and access the Properties tab in your Page Actions Toolbar. Note: if you have not checked out your page, you will not be able to see your properties.
  • Scroll to 'Navigation Options'.
  • Access the 'Side Navigation File Path' field.
  • Click the 'Choose File' icon .
  • Navigate to the nav file you wish to display and select it.
  • Click 'Choose File. The path to that file will display in the path field.
  • Click Save
  • Submit for publish.

Turn your Navigation file on or off

  • Check out the page on which you wish to manage your navigation file, and select the Properties tab.
  • Scroll to 'Navigation Options'.
  • Access the 'Sidenav Options' field.
  • Click the drop down arrow and select
    • Left Sidenav - to display your selected navigation file
    • None - to display no navigation file.
