A Celebration of Athletic Excellence
Recognizing our inability to gather for the Hall of Fame - Athletic Excellence Celebration, we invite you to participate by donating generously from the comfort and safety of your home. You are essential in ensuring that we accomplish our fundraising goal of $90,000 to support vital Athletic Scholarships. Our athletes need us now more than ever, without scholarship support many of our student-athletes will not be able to continue pursuing their education at LCC.
2025 Hall of Fame Inductees
Scott Lucas
Scott was one of the best multi-sport athletes in LCC history. Scott is Managing Director
of Bates Group's Internal and Regulatory
Investigations practice, where he uses his 24 years of experience in securities, accounting,
and finance to help orchestrate forensic analyses related to financial disputes and
investigations. He played basketball and baseball at Lower Columbia from 1991 to 1993.
He was a member of the 1992 LCC NWAC champion baseball team. Scott was first team
all-league in basketball during the 1992-93 season. He was a key part in the Devils
winning division basketball titles in 1991-92 and 1992-93.
Johnna Ballard Steenkolk
When her time at LCC was completed, Johnna Ballard was the school’s all-time leading scorer in women’s basketball. She was voted first team all-league in her sophomore season of 1992-93 and was the team MVP. Steenkolk is a teacher in the Centralia School District. She currently is third on the LCC all-time scoring list and fourth on the all-time rebounding list.
Steve Rooklidge
Steve Rooklidge was a stalwart of the Red Devil baseball teams that won two region titles and an NWAC championship in the 1991 and 1992 seasons. Rooklidge was an All-NWAC shortstop in the 1992 championship season. He went on to play two years at the University of Portland where he was among the leaders in games played for the Pilots. Rooklidge went on to a teaching and coaching career highlighted by winning two state championships leading the Mark Morris HS girls basketball team.
Jennifer Lybrand
During the Red Devils 1999 NWAC championship season, Lybrand pitched in 43 games and 280 innings, both school records. After taking a year away from softball, she returned to the Red Devils 2001 team and led them to another NWAC title and was named tourney MVP. She was an NFCA All-American her sophomore season. Lybrand is prominent in the LCC record book with most wins in a single season (32), most single season innings (280), and most games (43), all in the 1999 season. She went on to star at St. Martin’s College in Lacey.
Misty Velke
Misty played just one season at LCC, but it was a dominant one. Powered with a nearly un-hittable rise ball, Velke pitched the 2000 Red Devils to the NWAC championship, striking out a school-record 370 batters. The R.A. Long high school star spent her freshman season at the University of San Diego, where she was the top pitcher for the Torreros. She came back home to finish her playing career at LCC, then began a decades long career as a teacher in the Longview School District.
Bob Rose
Bob Rose played on the 1967 and 1968 Red Devil baseball team coached by Oscar Lemiere.
The Castle Rock native attended to Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon
University). Back in his home area, Rose became a legend in the referee circles. He
refereed college and prep football, college and high school basketball and others
sports for over 50 years. His affable nature and sharp eye made him one of the top
ranked officials. He was the lead referee in multiple NCAA championship football
games. While taking his craft to the highest levels, he remains active as an LCC Booster
Club member.
