Public Comment
Each regular meeting of the Board shall provide members of the public an opportunity to address the Board on any item of business. The Board encourages groups to designate a spokesperson to address the Board on their behalf. All public comments are limited to three minutes. The intent of the Board shall be to provide equal time for both pro and con presentations. Approximately 15 minutes will be reserved for public comment, but the chair maintains the right to regulate the length of time allotted. The chair also maintains the right to regulate the subject matter of that which may be presented or discussed at the open meeting, including, but not limited to, matters which are the subject of current or pending grievances, or adjudicative or disciplinary proceedings. Matters for consideration, discussion, and/or debate will be limited to the extent allowed by the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 42.30 RCW.
You may submit a request to provide a comment during the Public Comment section of the meeting by emailing tpowell@lowercolumbia.edu (please put "Public Comment" in the subject of your email) before the Board Meeting, using the sign-up sheet at the Board meeting, or entering your request in the ZOOM chat before the meeting. Sign-up for public comment will close five minutes before each Board meeting.
All public comments are limited to three minutes. It is not the practice of the Board to respond directly to questions or comments during this portion of the meeting. All speakers are asked to make their point clear and concise. Public comments will be conducted in the order in which speakers sign up. When your name is called, step to the designated area (or unmute yourself if online) and introduce yourself to the Board. State your name and then the issue you wish to speak on. Speak loudly and clearly. Boisterous conduct shall not be permitted at any meeting of the Board, nor will any defamatory or abusive remarks be tolerated.
Please contact Tracy Powell at (360) 442-2100 (tpowell@lowercolumbia.edu) if you have questions.
