Insurance & Health

Important information about your health and health insurance!

All LCC students must have health insurance during their enrollment at LCC, as well as during OPT while on an LCC I-20.

Not feeling well, need mental health support, or have an injury? Consider the following:

As an international student at LCC, your insurance plan is Lewermark. You are able to login to their online portal and print your own insurance card.

  • When you feel sick, and it's not a life threating emergency, you can call an advice nurse to ask what they recomend you do next. They will ask for your symptoms and give advice to let you know if you should see a doctor, get medicine from a pharmacy, or go to the hospital. Click on the link that says "contact a nurse" on the Lewermark website.
  • Lewermark also offers mental-health care in many languages. If you need to talk with a mental health counselor, click on the link that says "contact a mental health counselor" on the Lewermark website.
  • Your Lewermark insurance does not cover all doctors, hospitals, and urgent-care clinics in the USA. Before you schedule an appointment, make sure the doctor or clinic will take your insurance by looking it up on the Lewermark website.

Don't go to the hospital unless it's an emergency.

In many countries other than the USA, if someone gets sick after-hours, or cannot get an appointment with a doctor, they go to the emergency room at the hospital. Doing this for a non-emergency in the USA is very expensive. If you have a non-emergency, but you still need to see a doctor, and cannot get an appointment at a regular doctor's office, try to go to an urgent-care clinic. The closest urgent care clinics are in Vancouver, about 40 minutes south of Longview.

Wellness Resources at LCC

LCC Counseling Center

The LCC Counseling Center is available to students who would like to speak to someone confidentially. Culture shock, home-sickness, stress or anxiety, depression, and family concerns, are common issues international students face. Past international students have mentioned that taking advantage of this service was very helpful. Having an objective, trained professional, can make a big difference when working through life struggles.

Gym & Fitness Center

LCC's Gym & Fitness Center is open to all international students. You can lift weights, climb the rock wall, sign up for a class, or buy a smoothie and chat with friends! All-natural smoothies are available at the Juice Bar. Sign up for fit, spin, intramural, open gym, rock climbing, weight lifting, or continuing education classes, along with traditional for-credit PE classes.

Red Devil Wellbeing

Red Devil Wellbeing is an inclusive well-being program created for LCC faculty, staff, and students. Red Devil Wellbeing strives to help employees and students improve and maintain their well-being by focusing on ways to inspire employees and students to: move more, eat healthy, learn how to reduce stress, and learn how to prevent illness.
