Important Dates

First Term: LCC has four terms, or “quarters”, a year, and students can start any term. To decide which term will be your First Term, we encourage you to consider the average wait times for visa appointments. Fall is the most common First term. Note: Summer is LCC’s typical vacation term, which means there are fewer courses offered this term. Note: Winter term arrival falls around the New Year Holiday, and peak travel season in the United States. If you need help deciding your First Term, then contact us at international@lowercolumbia.edu.

Application Deadline: The date to submit your completed application and supporting documentation. This is the last day we will accept applications for the listed term. If your application is incomplete, then you may complete your application for the following term.

The application deadline is approximately three months before the First Term Start. This is intentional to allow you time to interview for a student visa and complete the required Admitted Student Next Steps.

**We strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible. Applying before the application deadline enables you to have more time to navigate the visa process (wait times, interviews, etc.). We suggest you review the Visa Appointment Wait Times to estimate the time between your application submission and visa interview.

First Term Payment Deadline: After you have received your visa and before your arrival at LCC, you are required to pay the full tuition and fees for your first term. Please visit the Tuition and Fees webpage for details about the First Term Payment.

Arrival Date: This is the last date you can arrive in the United States. You are not allowed to arrive after this day. Orientation, which is mandatory, begins the day after the Arrival Date. For those who will live in campus housing, this is the first date you can enter campus housing. If your experience limited flight availability to arrive on Arrival Day, then please connect with international@lowercolumbia.edu. You must maintain communication with the International Programs Office and LCC Housing Office if your arrival plans change at anypoint.

Proof of Financial Support

Proof of Financial Support consists of:

REQUIRED - Official bank statement of the applicant or financial sponsor. The official bank statement must meet the following criteria:
- Showing at least $21,731 USD available in the account.
- Amount must be liquid funds or readily available (such as checking, savings, available lines of credit, etc). We do not accept proof of future funds (stocks, bonds, crypto, paystubs, immovable assets, etc).
- Statement must be dated for less than six months old at time of application.
- Proof should come in the form of a statement or letter directly from the financial institution on their letterhead.
- Bank statements must be complete. We cannot accept partial statements or statements with missing pages.
- If the source of funding is not in your name, you must include the bank account owner as one of your financial sponsors in your LCC Declaration of Financial Support.

- The LCC Declaration of Financial Support Form summarizes your financial support and affirms your commitment to pay.

- Upload the form to your online application
OPTIONAL - Letter of Support from bank or financial support.
- You may optionally choose to provide an additional letter of support from your bank, financial institution, or financial supporter (relative, friend, scholarship provider, etc.). You can upload any additional letters to your online application.

Proof of English Proficiency

Students applying to an academic degree program must submit proof of English language proficiency. You must provide one of the following:

TOEFL score report sent directly from ETS to LCC. School code: 4402. Score requirement: 61.
Scan of IELTS score report (we verify electronically). Score requirement: 5.5 (on academic version).
DuoLingo Scores sent electronically to LCC. Score requirement: 90
Official transcripts from accredited US college or university showing completion of English 101 with a grade of C or better.
Proof of graduation from school or college in one of the English Proficiency Requirement Exempt Countries.

Students applying to the LCC Pathway Program, for English Language learning, are not required to submit proof of language proficiency in their admissions application.

Note: students who are admitted into the Pathway Programs are required to take DuoLingo Assessment Test for class level placement before arriving in the United States.

Step 2: After you receive your admission packet via email, print and sign your I-20

Print and sign your I-20 immediately. The link will expire if you do not download and print your I-20. Keep a digital and physical copy of your I-20. You will need the I-20 for your visa interview and for entry in the United States.
