Lower Columbia College, referred to as LCC,  is an accredited, public, two-year community and technical college located in Longview, Washington. LCC was established in 1934 with 53 students. The first graduating class in 1936 included seven students receiving their associate degree, following a year later graduating 96 students in 1937. LCC became an official community college in 1961, and joined the state supported community college system in 1967. Today, our campus includes 26 buildings on nearly 40 acres and enrolls over 4,000 students each year.

Our Location:

Our campus is located in Longview, Washington – the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States. Longview is 124 miles (200 kilometers) south of Seattle, Washington and 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Portland, Oregon. Campus is near the downtown center with shops, restaurants, and art galleries. It is also near the Columbia River recreational area. Our location is a great choice for college students, because Longview offers the safety, atmosphere, and charm of a small town, and the close proximity to major cities to enjoy the excitement and activity of Portland and Seattle for weekend adventures.

Our Programs:

LCC offers over 90 programs and services including: Certificates, Associates Degree, and Bachelors Degree, and High School Diploma with Associates Degree. Our most popular programs for international students are associate degrees in Business, Computer Science, Early Childhood Education, Medical Assisting, and Nursing. The majority of international students graduate from LCC with an Associates of Arts degree and then transfer to a university to complete a bachelor's degree.

Our Commitment

LCC is committed to welcoming and supporting international students. International students enhance the vibrancy of our campus, enriching the classroom and campus culture for all students with mutual learning of diverse perspectives and ideas.

“Lower Columbia College celebrates and embraces diversity of all kinds, including differing beliefs, cultures, people, and experiences. We are dedicated to welcoming and supporting international students from around the world to achieve their academic and professional goals.”    – Matt Seimears, Ph.D., President of Lower Columbia College
