Is it true that American college students have a lot of homework?

Have you heard that American college students have more homework? Before attending LCC, I also looked at various study abroad websites and vlogs, and I often read that American college students have a lot of homework and research and that it is hard to get free time. As an international student, I would like to introduce you to how much homework international students actually have and whether they really have a lot of homework!

First: Yuna (Major: Early Childhood Education)

First, I would like to introduce my February schedule. This quarter, I took three classes (13 credits in total): ceramics, inclusive education (education where all children can learn together regardless of disabilities, language, or cultural differences), and Introduction to Education with Field Experience.

My classes this quarter had a set assignment due date every Sunday. So if you look at Sundays in the calendar image, you will see that there are many assignments written. This quarter I was working on assignments in between classes and field experiences, but most of them were completed on weekends.

Second: Maritza (Major: Business)

Next is the schedule for Maritza. Martiza, like any international students, is majoring in business. Maritza took three classes this quarter(15 credits total): Basic Principles of Accounting, Macroeconomics, and English (Composition II).

Most of her assignments were due on Sundays as well. She made some progress on her assignments after school and used the weekends for her own free time! Writing English essays was a challenge, but the other classes did not have that many assignments, and according to her, this quarter was not too busy overall.

As you can see through these two examples, the amount of assignments varies by class and major. So it is difficult to say that American college students have a lot of assignments. In fact, when I first started studying at LCC, I was surprised that it was not as hard as I had expected. Nonetheless, every student has a different experience. I hope you will find these examples to be helpful.

一人目:Yuna(学部:幼児教育)

授業と教育実習の合間を縫って課題を進めていましたが、ほとんどは休日に終わらせていました。もしかしたら今学期が今までで一番課題の量が多かったかもしれません(^-^;

二人目:Maritza(学部:ビジネス)
