Part 1 – International Club – Students (local and international)
LCC offers a variety of clubs and organizations for students. However, the most relevant club for international students is the International Club. In Part 1 of “ What is the International Club?”, I interviewed club leaders and provided an overview of the club. In this blog, I introduce some of the club activities we’ve done in the past and interviewed some students who participate in the club.
About International Club Activities
The International Club meets weekly for students to connect together through activities and events. In the past, the International Club has done many on-campus activities, such as sushi making, Korean spicy food competitions, pumpkin carving, cultural potlucks, and cookie decorating. The International Club has off-campus activities about once a quarter. For the off-campus activities, we went to Portland for dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant and experienced Hopscotch, visited the Museum of Flight in Seattle and the Seattle Aquarium, and went ice skating in Vancouver. These are just a few examples of the fun events the club has offered.
Interview with students who participate, Vickey (local student) and Grant (local student)!
Q1. How do you like this club?

Vickey: I really enjoy the international club! Even though I’m pretty busy and can’t always attend the meetings, I always see fun events happening in the club. It’s not at all boring. I specifically love interacting and connecting with everyone.
Grant: For me, the international club is a chance to meet new people and gain insight into cultures I might not otherwise encounter. I’ve genuinely enjoyed being part of the club. So far, it’s been both a lot of fun and a truly eye-opening experience.
Q2. What was your favorite activity you joined so far?

Vickey: My favorite international club activity was ice skating!
Grant: My favorite activity so far has been the international club’s potluck, where we were tasked to bring food from our home country for others to enjoy. I’d never had onigiri (Japanese food), kimchi (Korean food), or a traditional German vanilla pudding before this. It was fantastic to have food that I hadn’t had the chance to have prior.
